At CulturedGrooming.com, our mission is simple: give every man genuinely useful grooming information that respects his background, his hair texture, his skin tone, and his cultural identity. This page explains how we create, review, and maintain that content, and how we handle the affiliate relationships that help keep this site running.
Our Editorial Mission
The men’s grooming space is dominated by advice written for one type of man. We built CulturedGrooming to fill the gap: culturally specific guidance for Black men, Latino men, Asian men, Middle Eastern men, Muslim men, South Asian men, Jewish men, men with redhead or Nordic skin types, and everyone in between.
Cultural authenticity is our competitive advantage and our editorial non-negotiable. An article about 360 waves written for a Black man with 4C hair is fundamentally different from a generic “waves hairstyle” guide. We write the former, not the latter.
Editorial Independence
Our content and product recommendations are editorially independent. This means:
- No pay-to-play: Brands cannot pay to be featured, reviewed positively, or ranked higher in our recommendations. We do not accept sponsored content disguised as editorial.
- Affiliate commissions do not influence recommendations: We earn commissions when you purchase through our links, but a product with a higher commission rate does not get preferential placement. We recommend what we believe is genuinely best for you.
- We include products from multiple retailers: Our product roundups compare across Amazon, specialty retailers, and direct brand sites to find the best option for each reader.
- Negative findings are published: If a product underperforms or has ingredients that conflict with a specific hair type or cultural grooming practice, we say so.
Affiliate Disclosure
CulturedGrooming.com participates in affiliate marketing programs, including:
- Amazon Associates: As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through our Amazon links.
- Brand affiliate programs: We may also participate in affiliate programs run directly by grooming brands covering beard care, hair care, fragrance, electric razors, and more.
When you click an affiliate link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. These commissions help us maintain and grow the site, paying for hosting, research, writing, and the time it takes to build genuinely useful content.
Affiliate links are used only for products we would recommend regardless of whether an affiliate program exists. We do not link to products we would not recommend to a friend.
Per FTC guidelines, affiliate relationships are disclosed at the top of every article that contains affiliate links.
How We Research and Write Our Content
Every article on CulturedGrooming goes through the following process:
1. Topic and Keyword Research
We identify topics based on what men in each cultural segment are actually searching for, not generic grooming topics recycled from mainstream publications. Our focus is on underserved queries where culturally specific advice is missing from the web.
2. Expert Author Assignment
Articles are assigned to the author on our team whose background and expertise best matches the topic. A guide on maintaining 4C hair is written by an author with direct personal experience and expertise in Black men’s hair care. A guide on Islamic grooming practices is written by a Muslim author who observes those practices. See our About Us page for full author bios.
3. Research Process
Our writers draw on:
- Personal experience and expertise in their cultural segment
- Consultation with barbers, dermatologists, and grooming professionals in relevant communities
- Peer-reviewed research on hair biology, skin science, and dermatology where applicable
- Community knowledge from barbershops, cultural forums, and grooming communities
- Product testing and hands-on use
4. Product Vetting
Before recommending a product, our team considers:
- Ingredient quality and suitability for the specific hair or skin type addressed in the article
- Cultural appropriateness, such as alcohol-free options for Muslim readers observing Islamic grooming guidelines
- Price-to-value ratio across a range of budgets
- Availability in the US and internationally where relevant
- Community reputation and verified user feedback
5. Editorial Review
All articles are reviewed by our editor-in-chief before publication. Articles covering medical topics such as hair loss, scalp conditions, or skin concerns include a disclaimer that readers should consult a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical advice.
Cultural Authenticity Standards
This is the standard that sets us apart. Our cultural authenticity guidelines require that:
- Authors write from lived experience: We do not assign a Black men’s hair guide to a writer with no experience in Black hair care, and vice versa.
- Cultural context is woven into the content: Product recommendations account for the actual hair textures, skin tones, and grooming traditions of the audience, not assumptions carried over from mainstream standards.
- Religious and faith considerations are respected: Articles for Muslim, Jewish, or Sikh readers include relevant halal, kosher, or faith-based guidelines. Faith-specific articles carry a disclaimer acknowledging that personal religious practice varies and readers should consult their own religious guidance for definitive answers.
- We do not tokenize or stereotype: Cultural content is written with respect and specificity. We avoid broad generalizations about any cultural group.
Content Update Policy
Grooming products are discontinued, formulations change, and new research emerges. We maintain our content to reflect current information:
- Product recommendations: Reviewed and updated when products are discontinued or when significantly better alternatives become available.
- Technique and care guides: Reviewed annually or when new professional standards emerge.
- Affiliate links: Audited regularly to ensure links remain active and point to the correct products.
Each article shows its original publication date and last updated date so you know how current the information is.
Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. If you find a factual error, an incorrect product description, outdated information, or a cultural inaccuracy, please contact us at admin@culturedgrooming.com. We will review the concern and correct verified errors promptly, noting the correction at the bottom of the affected article.
What We Are Not
- We are not a medical site: Content about scalp conditions, hair loss, or skin concerns is informational only and does not constitute medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for personal medical decisions.
- We are not a news site: We focus on evergreen grooming guides and product recommendations, not breaking news.
- We are not paid by brands for placement: No brand has paid us to be featured. Affiliate commissions are earned on purchases, not on editorial placements.
